Designing a joy-first approach to a player-focused gaming company.

Rovio website hero for Angry Birds 2

Big Picture

Rovio needed to refresh their website and employer branding to reflect their personality and culture, and showcase the innovation and craft behind their games.

Role

As Design Lead I worked hands-on creating user experience and visual design from the ground up. Collaborating with the Rovio recruitment team I delivered a redesign that worked seamlessly with their CRM and showcased the innovation and cultural integrity of the brand.

Approach

To position Rovio around their core values: playful, credible and creative. Bold, impactful layouts and prominent use of character art enabled us to appear both serious and playful to potential recruits and partners.

Outcome

A Webby Award-nominated website that enabled internal teams such as recruitment and news to create beautiful pages, faster. Externally, Rovio’s new site showcased their culture, personality and craft.

● Continued growth of key hires
● Successful acquisition by SEGA (Aug 2023)
